Sandy Bay
Nestled in a sandy cove, just 1.5 miles north of Camp Lochalsh, are two beautiful log cabins. This is Sandy Bay, with a fantastic view of the lake and the perfect beach for swimming and sunbathing.
While Sandy Bay has no electricity, it has all the comforts of home. Both cabins feature hot and cold running water, three-piece baths, full kitchens and screened-in porches.
Designed to accommodate up to 12 people, Sandy Bay is well suited for either one large group or two small groups.
Both Sandy Bay cabins are full-log design and heated by woodburning stoves. A fire pit is provided for bonfires at night, and a horseshoe pit is also on site. The large dock in front of the cabins is perfect for casting. The bay itself is mostly sand near shore, then gently slopes out until it levels off in the main lake at about 60 feet of water. Good weed beds provide cover for northern pike throughout the bay.
Sandy Bay is also home to abundant wildlife. Common Loons lull you to sleep at night, and the resident fox will steal your lunch if you leave it unattended at the picnic table for too long! From time to time, a Black Bear or Moose will wander into camp. Most of the time, they pass without incident, but now and then one will take a peek through a window to check out what you're doing inside!
Sandy Bay cabins are great for those looking to get away from it all and experience the true wilderness without leaving all the creature comforts at home. If your looking for a great wilderness trip and want to be off on your own, consider Sandy Bay.
